چکیده

Ž . We show that the long-range part of the Coulomb self-energy of an electron density r r is almost identical to that of its Ž . Ž . associated Stewart density r r . Since the latter is obtained by fitting r r within an auxiliary basis of only s functions, our ̃ Ž . proposal can be viewed as a hybrid of the RI resolution of the identity and KWIK methods. q 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.

The Running Coulomb Potential and Lamb Shift in QCD

The QCD β-function and the anomalous dimensions for the Coulomb potential and the static potential first differ at three loop order. We evaluate the three loop ultrasoft anomalous dimension for the Coulomb potential and give the complete three loop running. Using this result, we calculate the leading logarithmic Lamb shift for a heavy quark-antiquark bound state, which includes all contribution...

Combination of the exact potential and multipole methods (EP/MM) for evaluation of intermolecular electrostatic interaction energies with pseudoatom representation of molecular electron densities

A new method (EP/MM) for calculation of intermolecular electrostatic interaction energies from pseudoatom expansions of molecular densities is presented. It combines numerical evaluation of the exact Coulomb integral for the short-range with the Buckingham-type multipole approximation for the long-range interatomic interactions. In first instance the method is combined with the pseudoatom repre...

Coulomb Gap in a Doped Semiconductor near the Metal-Insulator Transition: Tunneling Experiment and Scaling Ansatz

Electron tunneling experiments are used to probe Coulomb correlation effects in the single-particle density-of-states (DOS) of boron-doped silicon crystals near the critical density nc of the metal-insulator transition (MIT). At low energies (ε ≤ 0.5 meV), a DOS measurement distinguishes between insulating and metallic samples with densities 10 to 15 % on either side of nc. However, at higher e...

Gauge Invariant Evaluation of Nuclear Polarization with Collective Model

The nuclear-polarization (NP) energies for hydrogenlike heavy ions are calculated using the same collective model employed in [1, 2]. The transverse, as well as the Coulomb contributions, are considered in both the Feynman and Coulomb gauges. A considerable gauge violation is found when the ladder and cross diagrams only are taken into account. A schematic nuclear model with a separable interac...

Coulomb oscillations and Hall effect in quasi-2D graphite quantum dots.

We perform low-temperature electrical transport measurements on gated, quasi-2D graphite quantum dots. In devices with low contact resistances, we use longitudinal and Hall resistances to extract carrier densities of 9.2-13 x 10(12) cm(-2) and mobilities of 200-1900 cm(2)/V.s. In devices with high resistance contacts, we observe Coulomb blockade phenomena and infer the charging energies and cap...
